Cantine Ionis, Primitivo Acanto 2022

Acanto comes from Cantine Ionis in Puglia, the heel of Italy's boot, where hot sunshine and sea breezes from the Ionian and Adriatic produce rich, generous reds. Primitivo is Puglia's star grape, and is genetically the same as California's Zinfandel.

Ruby red with garnet glints. Plum, cherry and a mineral note on the nose, leading to a fresh, well-balanced attack. The palate is full-bodied with wild berry, plum and cherry fruit infused with sweet spice. Soft tannins give a round, elegant and juicy finish.

Serve with: pizza, pasta with meat ragù, barbecued ribs or hard Italian cheeses.
