Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Piedlong 2021

Piedlong comes from the Brunier family of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. The Grenache grows on the stony Piedlong plateau north of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the highest points in the appellation, with 70-year-old vines rooted in clay under a covering of large rounded stones (galets roulés). A little Mourvèdre comes from the neighbouring Pignan site.

Crunchy on the nose, with rose petals and loads of wild strawberries, and just a hint of citrus.

Serve with: roast lamb, game, beef stew or hard cheeses.
