Marlborough, at the top of New Zealand's South Island, is the world's best-known source of Sauvignon Blanc. This comes from the Awatere Valley, a cooler, higher sub-region in the south of Marlborough.

White peach, gooseberry, citrus, mineral and sherbet. Because the Awatere is cooler than the rest of Marlborough, the wine shows less tropical fruit and is fresher and more elegant.

Serve with: goat's cheese, seafood, Thai dishes or as an aperitif.
